A wasted weekend?

This last weekend, I didn't write a word.

My day job required me to be up early for a 5am system change. Then I slept for four hours before getting up for a brunch of my 'famous' Boursin-Spinach Omelette.

After that, I turned into a complete toad. I read four books and started another.

Oliver Pötzsch's Book of Night, the first installment of his Black Musketeers series. The story is about an adolescent son of a knight during the 30-Years War dealing with the murder of his parents and the abduction of his sister. It's well-written, and well-translated from the original German. This is great historical fiction from the author of the Hangman's Daughter. Pötzsch writes screenplays for Bavarian television, so his books read at the pace of an action movie. I already have the next volume, Sword of Power, queued up to read next.

After that, I decided on some lewd, guilty pleasures, so I read all three books of The New Principal series. Discovering the Trick was the first installment, where our hero, Ben Lee, loses his job as a teacher due to getting caught in flagrante delicto with one of his student's mother and the school administrator in his classroom. Then he gets an unusual offer to become the new principal at a small, remote college preparatory school. Many sexual hijinx ensue with intrigue and suspense. Volumes two and three, Bending the School and Defending a New Home, continue with more intrigue, suspense, and explicit harem-lit action. I can tell you first-hand how difficult it is to get a clean manuscript without misspellings, word substitutions, and grammar errors. The author, Shu Daizi, did a pretty good job of it...I was only taken out of the flow twice between the three books. I recommend them if you're looking for a little lewd fun.

Just as I was about to jump into Sword of Power, when Eden Redd's announcement of Blackwood Milk Farm arrived. So, I've started that. Hopefully, I can finish it before this weekend, so I can focus on writing again. Will, Max, Devline, and Marcus are all bugging me to sit down and tell more of their stories.

As always, the disclaimer...I get a couple of pennies from Amazon if you buy the book from one of the links in this post.

Holiday reading...

I gotta admit, I'm woefully inadequate at keeping this blog up to date. I'll try to do a catch-up post while I'm on holiday this coming...
